An etched brass kit with whitemetal components requiring Mansell 3'7" wheels, couplings, paint and lettering to finish.
Twelve of the 18ft horseboxes were built by the S&DJ R at their Highbridge works between 1898 and 1913. The works drawing shows a vehicle fitted with vacuum brake and a through pipe fitted
for the Westinghouse brake. In 1906 the S&DJR introduced steam heating so the horseboxes would probably have had it added at some stage in their lives.
At grouping in 1923 the S&DJ R was dissolved and became the legal property of the LMS and SR,
as successors to the MR and L&SWR. By this time the S&DJR only owned locomotives and coaching stock. The horseboxes, as part of the coaching stock, remained under the S&DJR until poor performance in the late 1920’s led the LMS and SR to end the independent existence of the
S&DJR in 1930. The horseboxes were split between the two companies, the SR allocated them
