Hello and welcome to
“Greenbat” was the brand used by Greenwood and Batley of Armley, Leeds, who produced a variety of industrial locomotives. In addition to this type, they produced a wide variety of industrial railway equipment including coke oven and mining locos'. The kit represents a prototype number 1210 of 1930 used among other locations at Taylor's Lane Power station, Willesden and ultimately preserved at Armley Museum, Leeds (2014). This version was powered by two 15HP electric motors, later and slightly different types had 20HP motors. With a wheelbase of 6’, 10” these will be suited to the most compact of layouts. Similar loco’ were used on the Glamorgan Canal Company Railway and Central Electricity Generating Board, Stourport Power Station, the main differences being around the ‘U’ channel forming the underframe and the direction of cab door opening.
